ADC accuses APC policies of deepening poverty in Nigeria as Senator David Mark urges practical solutions and compassionate governance

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of implementing “needless vicious policies” under President Bola Tinubu, which have exposed Nigerians to heightened hardship and poverty.

National Chairman of ADC and former Senate President, Senator David Mark, made the allegation on Monday in Abuja while inaugurating a 50-member Policy and Manifesto Committee for the party.

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former APC National Chairman and ex-Governor of Edo State, chairs the committee.

Mark lamented that while APC continues to increase citizens’ tax burdens, insecurity disrupts social and economic life.

He emphasised that Nigerians seek practical, compassionate policies that improve their lives rather than rhetoric or academic exercises detached from reality.

“The hardship and poverty that Nigerians are experiencing under the APC administration has gotten worse. What they are looking for are credible alternative ideas, actions and policies that show government understands their challenges and is prepared to act with clarity, courage and compassion,” Mark said.

He further warned that a country unable to secure its people cannot achieve meaningful economic growth, highlighting soaring food prices, inconsistent power supply, and increasing tariffs as evidence of government inaction.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Odigie-Oyegun assured party members that the manifesto would be designed in simple language, addressing ordinary Nigerians’ needs and demonstrating that ADC is serious about implementing practical solutions.

“Our goal is to ensure the manifesto clearly enunciates policies that will change the dynamics of politics in this nation and show Nigerians that we are different from past administrations,” Odigie-Oyegun said.
