United Bank for Africa Plc. (UBA Group), has announced the introduction of ‘In Card PIN management’ that lets Customers of the Bank immediately select their Personal Identification Number – PIN – for their Debit Cards, eliminating the process of handing out PINs in sealed mailers.

The development, according to UBA Group, allows customers of the Bank to select a PIN of their choice after they receive their cards using a specialised POS at any UBA Business Office or UBA ATMs and activate them immediately.

So, all eligible Debit Cards such as the MasterCard, MasterCard Verve and Verve Debit Card will no longer have the physical PIN mailers printed anymore. It will also be used for walk-in Customers who have forgotten their PIN and require a PIN re-issue.

UBA’s Divisional Head, e-Banking, Dr. Yinka Adedeji, said, “As long as the customer has a UBA Debit Card, PIN change can be done at any time. Also, the process is safer because the Customer is physically present and the code is sent via SMS to the registered mobile phone number”.
