Nine extends rugby league rights deal

Nine announced a five-year extension for broadcast rights to rugby league to 2027 from 2023.

The network also remains the exclusive home of the State of Origin series and the Telstra Premiership NRL Grand Final.

The deal will give Nine three additional matches across the season.

The average annual cost to Nine is $130 million, with $115 million in cash and $15 million of contra and other non-cash services. This compares to \the average cost of the 2018-2022 contract, announced in November 2015, of $115 million plus $10 million contra.

Nine has also secured the radio and audio streaming rights, under which matches will continue to be broadcast in Sydney and Brisbane through 2GB and 4BC, extending Nine’s NRL reach and aligning TV and exclusive radio rights on 4.00pm Sunday games. Plus, all Broncos versus Dolphins games will stream live in Brisbane.

Peter Costello, Nine Chairman: “This is a major deal for our business to bring this exciting sport to the Australian public across our platforms.

“The negotiation has been constructive and in the spirit of partnership across our businesses and we thank the NRL for the positive engagement in the process for an outcome that benefits all Australians and fans of the game.”

Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V’landys: “Today is an exciting day for our fans with the free-to-air broadcast deal of the NRL Telstra Premiership, NRLW and Ampol State of Origin locked in until the end of 2027.

“This is more than a broadcast deal, it’s a partnership to grow rugby league using all of Nine’s media platforms – television, radio and print. It was a priority for the Commission to secure the long term future of the game. In doing so
it was important to ensure that a long term partnership reflected the Commission’s desire to grow the game at all levels, to invest in innovation and to ensure we have a partner that can help grow the game from participation to pathway competitions and premierships.”

Vin Diesel honours Fast & Furious’ Paul Walker for 9th anniversary of his death

Vin Diesel has honored fast & furious star Paul Walker in commemoration for ninth year anniversary over his death.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star commemorated the nine-year anniversary of Paul’s death by sharing a throwback photo of himself and the late actor to Instagram.

Vin captioned the Nov. 29 post, “Nine years… love you and miss you.”

Paul died on Nov. 30, 2013 at age 40 due to a car crash. And in the years since his passing, Vin has been vocal about the tremendous loss he has suffered having been very close to Paul—who he acted alongside in five Fast & Furious films—for over a decade.

Immediately following the tragedy of his passing, Vin shared a touching tribute in honor of him and his legacy.

“Pablo, I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us… on me,” Vin wrote on Facebook at the time, referring to his nickname for Paul.

Vin Diesel is keeping Paul Walker in his heart year after year.

Chichi reveals why she doesn’t fly economy

Earlier on,TheHeute news reported that Chichi had explained why she rejected flying economy class with her colleagues.

The housemates who were on a sponsored trip to South Africa by Pepsi, had all housemates on Economy except for Beauty and Chichi.

Explaining why she didn’t fly economy class with the rest, Chichi stated that she isn’t used to it.

According to her, this isn’t about her being proud or anything, but she doesn’t fly economy.

She said,

“I can’t remember the last time I flew Economy. This is not about me being proud or anything. We all had economy class and I wanted to change to business class or upgrade to business class and it was quite stressful. But, I did it anyways”.

This isn’t surprising for fans and lovers of Chichi, as she earlier revealed that she doesn’t charge less than 20m for brand endorsement.

In a recent statement, award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid expressed his desire to act and produce a Nollywood movie.

Wizkid made this known during an interview on the show “KI$$ Hype” hosted by media personality Tinea Taylor while stating that he is a big man of Nollywood.

While on the show, Wizkid who recently releases his 5th studio, More Love, Less Ego, was asked what would he have been doing apart from being a singer, responding, the “Essence” crooner said that he has never seen himself do anything else but music noting that it’s hard for him to do something else.

Speaking further, Wizkid goes extreme as he uttered that in future he would definitely love to do fashion and movies and someday. He said he sees himself designing clothes sneakers, just dope cool shit..

The Grammy award winner speak big about the Nollywood, the Nigerian movie industry as he tagged himself as proper big fan of Nollywood.

Wizkid in his words said that he doesn’t known if he would ever act in Nollywood because he did not sees himself as a funny person adding that it requires special skills and talent to be a Nollywood actor.

The singer admitted that Nollywood is a special industry and producing a movie is something he would love to do.

Also, Wizkid while speaking with GQ France said Love should be the greatest religion in the world.

He wrote; “For Made in Lagos, I wanted people to know where I come from and who I am. With More Love, Less Ego, I want to share a message of love and let people vibrate. Love should be the greatest religion in the world. I think everyone can love each other, for real. My message is “Do love each other and take care of your neighbor.”
