Confusion as Olorunfemi replaces Sanwo-Olu as APC preferred candidate

Published

If the story reaching TheHeute is anything to go by, then there are strong indication that the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, may have gotten the Ambode’s treatment.

A source close to the inner power has disclosed that the powers that be in Lagos may have deprived Stainless, as the governor is fondly called, his second term in office.

According the scoop, the APC national leader and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has advised Governor Sanwo-Olu to drop his ambition to run for a second term in office and this is authoritative.

This new development has made the endorsement of the governor for a second term by the Governance Advisory Council a ruse and confirmed that the council is a mere lobby group without authority.

A very reliable source informed our correspondent that Governor Sanwo-Olu has already been informed by the ‘oracle’ to forget the ambition while another candidate has been told to obtain a nomination form.

Insider revealed how the governor went flat on the floor to beg the godfather when he was told of current happenings but all pleadings didn’t yield a positive response.

The governor was said to have been told to keep to the agreement of one term as it was never on the table that he (governor) would run for a second term.

Now, the governor has been thrown into confusion on how to inform Lagosians and his loyalists that he would not be running and the supposedly consensus agreement has collapsed.

Meanwhile, it has been gathered that a preferred candidate who retired as a permanent secretary has been directed to obtain a nomination form from the party secretariat. He is Mustapha Olorunfemi, formerly of Lagos state ministry of science and technology.

An insider who was privy to the politicking at Bourdilon simply said ‘mr governor has been told to forget the ambition just as the way he was asked to obtain a nomination form in 2019’ advising that the governor should just carry his cross or make an attempt to fight. The choice obviously is his, the source concluded.

It has been asserted by knowledgeable authorities that at times of fundamental changes, anyone or group who sits on the fence is a coward, traitor or both. NANS and her members are neither of the above.”

The PDP, highlighting the significance of this shift, released a video on X on Tuesday night, describing the move as a major boost to Ajayi’s campaign.

The party stated that the defectors, including key APC leaders and loyalists, cited a lack of genuine concern for the people’s welfare under the APC as their reason for leaving.

They expressed strong support for Ajayi, praising his potential to transform Ondo State and improve citizens’ lives.

The PDP views this mass defection as a clear sign of growing support for Ajayi and a rejection of APC’s policies, signaling a shift in political sentiment in Ondo State.
