The leadership of the APC in Ogun West has disowned Senator Iyabo Anisulowo over a letter purportedly written to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.
The Ogun West leaders hinted that their attention was drawn to the news report on a television station and an unsigned communique allegedly issued by a “Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots Under the umbrella of “Ogun West Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders” in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The leaders highlighted that the communique being unsigned, suggests that the promoters of the said Ogun West Patriots are not courageous enough to openly identify with the communique and should have been ignored.
However, because of the news report on the Television Station, which put some faces to the identity of those behind the unsigned communique, the Ogun West Extended Executive of the APC decided to respond to correct the clear misinformation, blackmail and propaganda being promoted by the said Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots.
The Ogun West leaders made the following clarifications :
1. An analysis of the names highlighted in the television report shows clearly that the said Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots is made of some of the supporters of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka.
2. Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who spoke for the said Committee if at all is an inactive member of the APC in Ogun West and in Ogun State. She has refused to participate in the activities of the party since 2019 including leadership meetings of the party held severally in her backyard at Ilaro. She is infact a prominent leader of those who worked against the interest of the APC in the 2019 general elections and since her purported return back to the APC sometimes in 2021, has never attended the meeting of APC in her ward but rather attempted to set up a parallel illegal APC structure but failed woefully.
3. The APC in Ogun West therefore state unequivocally that Senator Iyabo Anisulowo membership, commitment and loyalty to the party is doubtful. Having not been participating in the activities of the party, she is completely ignorant about the affairs of the party and cannot speak on behalf of any organ of the party.
4. Contrary to the claims by the said Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots that APC has been enmeshed in “controversies and acrimony”, the party is functioning as a progressive party and providing a level playing ground for all qualified aspirants who seeks the party’s tickets to democratically contest election into various offices. Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, whose supporters participated in the said meeting of Concerned Ogun West Patriots being a senatorial aspirant has met with the Ogun West executive of the APC and also the executive of the party at the local and ward levels. It is therefore unfortunate, that his supporters are now playing a leading role to discredit and undermine the party. We only hope Prince Isiaka will call his supporters to order to allow due process and the choice of the majority to prevail.
5. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola having transfered his APC membership to Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South local government of Ogun is a bonafide member of the APC in Ogun West, who is entitled to all rights and privileges of a member including contesting for any position he so desires as guaranteed by the constitution of the APC and that of Nigeria. We believe that any progressive minded and patriotic member of the party who disputes the right of any other member to any privileges should approach the leadership of the party or a court of law rather than spewing sentiments and attempting to blackmail the party with unfounded allegations.
6. The APC in Ogun West is resolute and will not be blackmailed by any aspirant(s) to exclude another. The process for the determination of the party’s candidates including for the Senatorial seat are clearly stated in the guidelines of the APC and will be strictly followed. The majority of our members through the primary election will determine their candidates and not an unpatriotic, anti APC and desperate committee that is unknown to the party.
7. We therefore, call on this misguided individuals who now parade themselves as ‘patriotic’ Yewa -Awori indigenes and “conscience of our people”, to desist from placing their selfish pursuit and personal interest above the larger community interest as they have being doing over the years and allow the wish of the majority of APC members in Ogun West and indeed Ogun West indigenes to prevail.
8. We call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party to ignore the political tantrums of these elements, who want to infect our progressive party with their old undemocratic and archaic system that has yielded little dividends to the party and Ogun West.”
