He called out the ongoing hardships Nigerians are facing, stressing that the country’s problems cannot be solved by mere verbal attacks.

He wrote, “Ok, Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation. The hardship is too much.”

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his disappointment on Facebook, urging the singer to apologise for undermining Nigeria’s image abroad.

Igbokwe wrote, “My In-law Davido has made me sad by telling the world in America that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles. This is very sad. I will advise him to retract the statement ASAP. Nigeria made Davido. QED!!!”

Similarly, Bashir Ahmed, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, also condemned Davido’s remarks on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

He stated, “Selling out your country from foreign soil is so disappointing and unpatriotic. Public figures like Davido should know that. They should act and be seen as good ambassadors for Nigeria wherever they find themselves.”

The criticism highlights the tension between public figures and their responsibility to portray their home country positively on the international stage.
