Fans excited as Olu Jacobs set to ft in stage play for 80th birthday

Joke Silva, a veteran actress, has announced that her husband, Olu Jacobs, who has been out of the spotlight for years, will appear in a stage play in December as part of his 80th birthday celebration.
Joke Silva recently revealed on her Instagram page that the stage play titled ‘Holy Child,’ written by Olu Jacobs and featuring them as a couple, was first performed in 1986, 1987, and 1993.

Joke Silva wrote on Instagram, “Olu Jacobs as Joseph, Joke Silva as Mary in the Musical HOLY CHILD written by Olu Jacobs and directed by late Tunde Oloyede.”
The duo’s first stage production through their production company, Lufodo. Holy Child had its world premiere in December 1986 at the National Theatre Cinema Hall 2.

It was performed once more in 1987 and once more in 1993. Lufodo will perform it at Glover Memorial Hall in December 2022. Loading for 80th birthday”

We recall Joke Silva spoke out about Olu Jacobs’ health after he disappeared from the film industry for a few years.
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the actress revealed that her husband is suffering from dementia, a degenerative disease of the brain.

“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body, it is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person,…first time i’m saying this publicly….that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well…we have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God….
We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish i had the old you here so i don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity ….I miss the times we work together!”

Actress Eniola Ajao’s epic, Ajakaju crosses N100 million mark in Nigerian box office

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao’s producer debut epic, “Ajakaju (Beast of Two Worlds),” has surpassed N100 million in ticket sales at the Nigerian box office.

Film distribution company FilmoneNg announced this achievement in a tweet on Thursday afternoon. According to the tweet, the indigenous film, co-produced by Anthill Studios, grossed N101.2 million within five days of its release on March 29, 2024.

Just a few days ago, Niyi Akinmolayan, the founder of Anthill Studios, shared a post revealing that “Ajakaju” had not only become the highest-grossing film for the weekend but also secured the title of the largest Easter opening film ever. This milestone further shows its position as the third-highest opening for a Nollywood film of all time, having earned N63.2 million within 72 hours of release.

This indigenous movie, “Ajakaju,” marks Yoruba actress Eniola Ajao’s debut production venture to hit cinemas nationwide. It has propelled her to become the first-time female producer to achieve the biggest opening for an indigenous film in Nigerian cinema history. The movie opened at cinemas with N16 million on its first 24 hour run.

Movie plot

The film explores the plight of a king facing exile due to his wives’ inability to conceive a male heir. To ensure the continuity of his dynasty, he marries a woman from another realm, leading to unforeseen turmoil and a battle for his legacy.

On its opening day, “Ajakaju” grossed N16 million, as reported by Nairametrics. Shot by Idowu Adedapo, known for his work on various acclaimed films, including “Wedding Party” and “King of Boys.” Produced under the banners of Lighthouse Pictures and Anthill Studios, and distributed by Film One Entertainment, the film offers audiences an enthralling journey into the complexities of power, love, and legacy.

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Bella Shmurda has caused a stir on the internet with his bold statement about Olamide.
In a recent interview, the singer recounted his experience as an upcoming artiste in the music industry.

He credited Olamide for paving the way for him, as he declared Olamide as the biggest success in the music industry, going as far as to crown him ‘number one’.

Bella recounted how the YBNL founder helped him when he was upcoming and how he stood by him during his tough days.

He went on to state that if his children asked him who had a more significant impact on his life, he would mention Olamide before thinking of his mother.

“That’s Olamide Baddo, just him. I’m telling you to be sincere, I’m not telling you this because I am part of his branch. I’m saying out of what I’ve seen, what I have known, this man stayed back and properly put most of us young artists in a proper position, in a proper space.
