GFA releases 2022/23 league fixtures; Kotoko to face Hearts on matchday 3

Published

on

The fixtures were officially announced on Thursday, with the season also scheduled to start on the weekend of Friday, September 9 to Monday, September 12.

Defending champions Asante Kotoko will open their season with a home game against newly-promoted Nsoatreman FC.

FA Cup winners Hearts of Oak will also travel to Dormaa to face Aduana FC in their first game of the season, while Accra Great Olympics will welcome Bechem United.

Also, the first Super Clash of the season will take place on matchday three, as Kotoko host their bitter rivals Hearts in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has granted a stay on the ban slapped on the players of Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies over match manipulation.

In portions of its ruling, CAS said the suspensions of the players be lifted with immediate effect until the substantive case is heard.

This means all the players involved can now be registered by clubs for the upcoming 2022/23 football season.

It will be recalled that in May, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ruled that the high-scoring matchday 34 game between the Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies during the 2020/21 season was fixed.

This followed Ashanti Gold’s emphatic 7-0 win over Allies at the Len Clay Stadium on the final day of that campaign.

Video highlights of the match added fuel to the suspicions of most fans after the away side’s Hashmin Musah deliberately scored two own goals in the game.

Several players from both teams, who were involved in the game in question, were also banned from all football related activities for between six and 24 months.

Both teams appealed their demotions but, in July, the Appeals Committee of the GFA dismissed their appeal cases.

The Professional Football Association of Ghana (PFAG) subsequently decided to file an appeal at CAS through the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) to overturn the ban slapped on the players.

CAS has now granted a stay, which allows all 21 players whose bans were appealed to get registered for the upcoming season, until the substantive case is heard.

Recall that a few months ago Dr. Dean opened up on how broken he was since their marital crisis started.

Via his Instagram page, he lamented that Korra Obido doesn’t care about their marriage and that he had to leave the marriage for his mental health.

Posting a photo of himself on Instagram, Dr. Dean wrote, “I’m heartbroken! Anyone that knows me or watches me online knows that I’m a dedicated family man to both Korra and my children.
This is honestly the hardest decision of my life, but necessary. I’m walking away from this marriage for my mental health and to be the best version of myself. I must set a healthy example for my children. This has nothing do with postpartum depression. I’ve been betrayed once again and she is unbothered, which pretty much summarizes our marriage.

My apology to the all the young men and women that believed we had a “perfect marriage”. Marriage is based on mutual love, respect, humility, accountability, empathy, apologies and most of all effective communication to understand the other person’s perspectives. Likes and views shouldn’t be the highlight of your relationship. Men: Your mental health matters! In order to be strong, you have to be happy.”

Nigerian vocalist and the Queen of Afrobeats, Niniola, has secured a collaboration with American musician and mogul, Did.

A story of divine providence and destiny, the two had connected over a video call with an excited Diddy telling Niniola how he wanted them to approach the collaboration saying; “I want you to do it all and send it to me one time when you feel like I’ve given this song my all cause it’s our song. Then Diddy had shared how he got the collaboration with Niniola. He said; “I was looking for somebody to be on the Afrobeats remix and Spinalk told me about her. I go to message her then I see that you sent me a message… 2018 saying I want to work with you one day but I’m calling her saying I want to work with her.”

So far, there are no details on what particular Diddy song Niniola is set to submit a verse on but the media mogul had in June this year, put out a 16-track project– Bad Boy Celebrates Diddy: The Artist, featuring diverse talents from Keyshia Cole, R Kelly, Mario Winans, the late Notorious B.I.G and other famous acts. In addition to this, Diddy had put out a single, Go On with Bryson Tiller. As a result, the collaboration which Diddy mentioned was an Afrobeats remix, could be any of these songs.
