According to the award-winning singer, fostering these connections allows fans to engage with an artist on a deeper level, including aspects beyond their music career.

Tiwa Savage believes that artists can use their platforms to connect with their fans on a personal level, whether through fashion, lifestyle choices, or other forms of self-expression.

“It’s not just about the music; it’s your fanbase and your brand. You’ve got to think about your fashion and how relatable you are,” Savage said.

“A lot of times, artists are just putting out music; they are not really connecting with the fans. I think it’s really important to connect with the fans.”

Savage pointed to her fellow Afrobeats superstars—Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—as examples of artists who have successfully cultivated strong relationships with their followers.

She explained that their ability to maintain a personal connection with their fans has kept them relevant even when not actively releasing new music.

“It’s not just about the music; it’s about your lifestyle,” she continued. “Whether they’re dropping a song or not, they are always in the conversation because of the bond they’ve built with their fans.

They love their lifestyles and that’s why they’re always trending.”

Tiwa Savage stressed that building a loyal fanbase is essential for any artist’s long-term growth, adding that an artist’s success is ultimately tied to the strength of their team and relationships with their audience.

“You are only as good as strong as your team,” she concluded.

As the conversation around fan relationships continues to grow, Savage’s words serve as a reminder that in today’s music industry, personal connections can be just as powerful as the music itself.

Nigerian singer Mr May D says Wizkid wouldn’t have reached his current level without his fallout with Square Records, sparking fan reactions.

“If no be wetin happen between me and Psquare, who be Wiz [Wizkid]? Chai,” he posted, sparking widespread debate among fans.

The altercation began after May D praised fellow Nigerian artist Davido, which reportedly drew criticism from Wizkid’s fans.

In response to their attacks, he posted: “Because I spoke about David, Wizkid boys are attacking me. Lmao, even Wiz know I love him, but if y’all come for me I’ll finish all of you and your oga.”

May D didn’t stop there, adding, “Even your Wizkid knows his limits! Don’t f*ck with me.”

Ruggedman supports Davido, Nigerian economy, criticism of government

Ruggedman has backed Davido’s comments on Nigeria’s economic struggles, urging the government to address the country’s issues instead of attacking the singer.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has defended afrobeats star Davido, who recently came under fire for his comments on Nigeria’s economic challenges.

The remark sparked a wave of criticism, but Ruggedman has publicly expressed his support for the singer.

Ruggedman, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, pointed out that instead of criticising Davido, the government should focus on fixing the economy to prevent such comments in the future.

He called out the ongoing hardships Nigerians are facing, stressing that the country’s problems cannot be solved by mere verbal attacks.

He wrote, “Ok, Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation. The hardship is too much.”

Ruggedman’s statement highlights the growing frustration among citizens over the state of the economy, as many continue to struggle with high levels of inflation and limited access to basic resources.

His comment also reflects a broader call for governmental action to address the country’s economic challenges.
