Nigeria China youth empowerment deepens as NCSP leverages AI and digital skills to boost employability, entrepreneurship, and inclusive national development

To mark World Youth Skills Day 2025, the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) is driving Nigeria China youth empowerment through artificial intelligence and digital skills development.

This year’s theme, “Youth empowerment through AI and digital skills,” reflects NCSP’s efforts to use its relationship with China to unlock opportunities for Nigerian youth.

Programmes are being launched to enhance employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen economic inclusion.

Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Director General of NCSP, highlighted the impact of strategic bilateral engagement with China in fostering innovation and productivity through technology transfer.

“When we empower our youth with relevant digital skills, we do more than reduce unemployment; we build a more resilient economy,” Tegbe said.

He added that young people, when equipped with the right tools, are crucial to sustainable national growth. This aligns with the UN’s focus on education and technical training under World Youth Skills Day, first declared in 2014.

The NCSP is expanding its collaboration with Chinese technology firms, academic institutions, and digital hubs to introduce new training initiatives.

These are designed to close the digital divide and prepare young Nigerians for roles in the global digital economy.

Tegbe also stressed the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for underserved communities and said policy and practice must align.

“We are aligning policy with practice, bringing together government institutions, private sector players, and international partners to create a pipeline of skilled talent for today and tomorrow,” he noted.

The Nigeria China youth empowerment drive remains central to both countries’ long-term cooperation, ensuring that innovation and sustainable development are shared priorities.

This year’s World Youth Skills Day goes beyond celebration. It is a call to invest in the youth, embrace collaboration, and shape a digitally inclusive and globally competitive Nigeria.
