Governor Sanwo-Olu unveils Lagos Women Empowerment Policy to dismantle systemic barriers and promote inclusive economic growth across key sectors in the state

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has launched the Lagos Women Empowerment Policy to tackle inequality and promote inclusive economic growth.

Speaking at the launch event at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Sanwo-Olu said the policy would remove barriers that limit women in agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, and technology.

“This roadmap is not just a document,” the governor said. “It is a strategic tool to unlock the full potential of the women of Lagos State.”

The policy was developed by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation after consultations with private sector leaders, NGOs, and community groups.

It focuses on increasing access to finance, digital tools, mentorship, and better working conditions for women in both formal and informal sectors.

Commissioner Bolaji Dada said the roadmap provides a clear direction to expand training and support for women-owned businesses.

“When we empower a woman, we uplift a household, strengthen the economy, and build a better Lagos,” she stated.
