Renewed Hope Housing Programme has delivered 6,112 new homes across Northern Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, under a nationwide initiative to address the housing deficit and create jobs.

Speaking in Kaduna, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, revealed the figures during an interactive session, as confirmed in a statement from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

According to Dangiwa, the Renewed Hope City in Karsana, FCT, accounts for 3,112 units, while Kano hosts 1,500 units.

Additionally, 250-unit estates have been completed in Benue, Katsina, Gombe, Yobe, Sokoto, and Nasarawa, totaling 6,112 units currently under construction in the region.

The Renewed Hope Housing Programme is a cornerstone of the federal government’s development strategy—focusing not just on shelter, but on economic empowerment, job creation, and regional revitalization.

“These housing estates come fully equipped with road networks, water systems, solar lighting, and basic amenities to ensure livability,” Dangiwa said.

The programme has generated over 152,000 direct and indirect jobs in the North alone, with many young artisans earning up to ₦150,000 monthly—providing significant support for household incomes.

In addition, 252 homes are being constructed across seven northern states—including Kaduna and Katsina—to resettle families displaced by conflict.

The pilot site in Tudun Biri, Kaduna, supports victims of the December 2023 military airstrike.

Looking ahead, the federal government plans to deliver 100 affordable homes in each of Nigeria’s 774 LGAs, backed by mortgage and rent-to-own schemes.

Beyond housing, the Ministry has also completed over 150 urban renewal projects, and built 71 classrooms, 15 health centres, 58 boreholes, and 63 rural roads, with investments exceeding ₦61 billion and an additional 10,700 jobs created.

Dangiwa described the Renewed Hope Housing Programme as more than bricks and mortar: “It is a symbol of our commitment to rebuilding lives and restoring dignity.”
