Her account sheds new light on the Destiny Boy Death, which has continued to generate reactions across the entertainment industry.

Destiny Boy, who rose to prominence in 2019 after his Fuji styled cover of Davido’s hit song If, died on Sunday, January 18, 2025, after battling a long term illness known as Ogu oru, a condition that often triggered seizures.

His death came barely months after he welcomed his first child.

In a video that surfaced online on Monday, Saida said the illness had been managed privately by the family for years, with support from medical professionals, traditional healers and clerics.

She explained that the condition was deliberately kept out of the public eye due to her son’s growing celebrity status.

She recounted that the illness resurfaced shortly after the naming ceremony of his child, when he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

According to her, efforts were made to stabilise him, with continued support from Oba Edu Ifayomi, a traditional leader who had been involved in his care and welfare.

Saida disclosed that after periods of hospital treatment, the family also explored traditional care when the seizures became more frequent. She said Destiny Boy showed signs of recovery at different times, although the condition remained unpredictable and distressing.

Addressing rumours circulating online, Saida firmly dismissed claims linking the Destiny Boy Death to money rituals. She described such allegations as false and attention seeking, insisting that her son lived a straightforward life focused on music and family.
