Enugu Police arrest three suspects, recovering guns, ammunition and drugs in two operations, reinforcing the state’s commitment to security

Enugu State Police Command has arrested three suspects and seized firearms, ammunition, and illegal drugs during two separate operations in the state.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.

The first operation, conducted on 19th January 2026 in Awkunanaw, Enugu South, led to the arrest of Mba Emmanuel, 31, also known as “Indomie”, and Onukwube Nnam, 35, known as “Nwa Amodu”.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both men were members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, a secret cult. Mba Emmanuel was allegedly the head and executioner of the group in Enugu South Local Government Area.

Police recovered a pump-action gun, a locally made Beretta-type pistol, 31 cartridges, a large wrap of cannabis, a laptop, and a motorcycle during the raid.

A second operation in the Agbani area on 31st January 2026 resulted in the arrest of Ezeani Monday, 32, who was found with dried cannabis and 39 pellets of suspected crystal meth. The remaining seven suspects were released following initial checks.

Mamman Bitrus Giwa, the Commissioner of Police, emphasised the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He warned that individuals involved in cultism, armed robbery, or drug-related crimes must reform or face the full force of the law.

The Enugu State Police Command continues to strengthen law enforcement efforts across the state to combat organised crime and illicit activities.
