Salah 50th Champions League goal sets new African record, surpassing Didier Drogba during Liverpool’s win over Galatasaray

Mohamed Salah, forward for Liverpool FC, has become the first African player to score 50 UEFA Champions League goals, surpassing the previous record held by Didier Drogba.

The 33-year-old reached the milestone on Wednesday night during Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Round of 16 second-leg clash at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah scored his historic goal in the 62nd minute with a trademark curling strike into the top corner, sealing a landmark moment in European football.

His record-breaking tally includes 47 goals for Liverpool, two for FC Basel and one for AS Roma.

The achievement moves him beyond Didier Drogba’s previous African record of 44 goals, underlining his enduring impact at the highest level of club football.

Liverpool’s emphatic win secured progression to the quarter-finals, where Mohamed Salah is expected to play a key role when the English side face Paris Saint-Germain in April.
