Ex Imo State deputy governor Prince Eze Madumere resigns APC, signalling a potential shift in his political path ahead of future elections

Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending a longstanding affiliation with the ruling party.

Madumere, who served as deputy governor under Senator Rochas Okorocha following the removal of Chief Jude Agbaso and throughout Okorocha’s second term which concluded on May 29, 2019, submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ezinihitte Ward, Mbieri, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

The letter, dated March 17, 2026, was acknowledged on the same day by Hon. Ugochukwu Udeh.

In the correspondence, Madumere described the decision as difficult but necessary after “deep personal reflection” on his political journey within the APC.

He expressed gratitude for the relationships forged over the years and emphasised the importance of maintaining cordial ties despite his departure.

Madumere has not disclosed his next political move following his exit from the APC, leaving observers speculating on potential alignments ahead of upcoming elections.

Political analysts suggest his departure could influence party dynamics in Imo State, particularly as preparations intensify for future electoral contests.
