Seamus Coleman will bring his remarkable 17-year playing career with Everton to an end at the conclusion of the season.

Seamus Coleman Everton retirement marks the close of one of the most enduring careers in the club’s modern history.

The Republic of Ireland international leaves as Everton’s record Premier League appearance holder with 372 matches and 433 appearances overall for the Toffees.

The 37-year-old defender joined Everton from Sligo Rovers in 2009 and went on to establish himself as one of the club’s most respected figures, captaining the side 140 times during his stay at Goodison Park.

Coleman’s final years as a player were heavily affected by injuries, limiting him to just 23 appearances across the last three seasons.

Despite the setbacks, he remained an influential presence within the dressing room and among supporters.

Speaking to Everton’s official website, Coleman reflected emotionally on his journey from a young reserve team signing to club captain and Premier League record holder.

The veteran full-back described his achievements at Everton as beyond his expectations, adding that he initially only hoped to make enough impact to earn a place on the bench after arriving from Ireland as a 20-year-old.

Everton have already offered Coleman a coaching opportunity as part of the club’s future plans, although the defender said he is yet to decide on the next chapter of his career.
