Reports cited by BBC Sport claimed that internal discussions were underway at City regarding a potential managerial transition following Sunday’s clash against Aston Villa, with former assistant Enzo Maresca reportedly viewed as a possible successor.

Guardiola, however, moved swiftly to dismiss the speculation during his pre-match press conference, stressing that his future remains tied to his existing contract at the Etihad Stadium.

“So many times, I have one more year,” Guardiola said when asked about ongoing exit rumours.

The Spanish coach, who still has a year remaining on his current deal, also rejected suggestions that upcoming fixtures could form part of a farewell run.

“I am here, I have a contract,” he said firmly.

Guardiola was also questioned about claims that Manchester City could honour him by naming the club’s expanded North Stand after him should he leave this summer. He dismissed the idea outright, saying he had no knowledge of such plans.

“No, no, no, no, no, no, I have no idea about that,” he said. “They don’t have to do anything, honestly.”

Since arriving at City in 2016, Guardiola has transformed the club into a dominant force in English and European football, winning six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, three FA Cups and five League Cups.

Despite ongoing speculation, City remain in contention for another Premier League title this season, with Guardiola already adding FA Cup and Carabao Cup success to his trophy haul in the current campaign.
