Premier League champions responded to remarks attributed to Enrique Riquelme, a reported presidential candidate at Real Madrid, who suggested that Erling Haaland could be signed if he succeeds in the club’s election process.

Riquelme also claimed that the Norway international’s current deal contained a release clause that would allow him to leave Manchester City for the Spanish giants, alongside midfielder Rodri.

However, Manchester City dismissed the assertion in strong terms, describing the reports emerging from Spain as false and misleading.

In an official statement, the club said there is no contractual clause that would permit Erling Haaland to leave the Etihad Stadium under the conditions described in recent speculation.

Manchester City added that there is “no chance of this happening,” reinforcing their position that the striker remains fully committed to the club under his existing agreement.

The club further stated that it is considering legal action over what it described as the misuse of Erling Haaland’s image in connection with the transfer speculation.

The clarification comes amid continued international media attention surrounding the forward’s long-term future, with Haaland remaining one of the most high-profile players in world football.

While Real Madrid presidential election rhetoric has fuelled speculation in Spain, Manchester City’s response has sought to firmly close down the narrative at an early stage.

Rumours regards Haaland has previously surfaced in various forms since the striker’s arrival in the Premier League, but the club’s latest statement represents one of its strongest public rebuttals to date.
