Rashford Man Utd return could happen against AC Milan as the forward joins Michael Carrick’s squad for United’s final preseason friendly

Marcus Rashford has been included in Michael Carrick’s Manchester United squad for Saturday’s preseason friendly against AC Milan in Poland, giving the England forward a potential opportunity to make his first appearance for the club in 20 months.

Rashford’s inclusion marks a significant moment as Manchester United prepare for their final preseason fixture before the new campaign.

The forward could also come up against former United head coach Ruben Amorim, who is now in charge of AC Milan.

Rashford spent the second half of last season away from Manchester United after falling out of favour under Amorim. His inclusion in Carrick’s travelling squad now offers a fresh opportunity as he attempts to revive his career at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez are also included in the squad travelling to Poland for the encounter.

The friendly could provide Carrick with another opportunity to assess his squad before the Premier League season begins, while Rashford’s involvement will inevitably attract much of the attention.

The 28-year-old has endured a turbulent period at United after previously establishing himself as one of the club’s leading attacking players.

Benjamin Sesko, however, has not been included in the travelling squad despite returning to Carrington.

Sesko is still building his match fitness after recovering from a shin injury sustained during the summer.

The forward has yet to feature for United during preseason but is expected to be available for the Premier League opener against Hull.

Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt are also returning to Carrington rather than travelling with the squad.

Mount suffered an injury around 20 minutes into United’s preseason match against Paris Saint-Germain last weekend and subsequently missed the meeting with Leeds.

Rashford’s potential return against Milan therefore provides one of the most intriguing storylines ahead of United’s final preseason test.
