Bradley Barcola scored his first goals for Liverpool with a hat-trick in Austria, where Ronald Araújo, Jeremie Frimpong and Lewis Koumas also found the net for the English side.

Meanwhile, Villa produced a dominant performance against their Turkish opponents, with Nicolas Jackson and Ross Barkley scoring twice each as Unai Emery’s men secured their second consecutive victory in the competition.

The contrasting victories ensured both English clubs continued their positive starts to the Champions League campaign, although Liverpool conceded three second-half goals after establishing a commanding advantage.

Liverpool made an impressive start at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, Austria, scoring three times in the first half to take control of the encounter.

Araújo opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, heading home from a Kostas Tsimikas corner to register his first goal for Liverpool.

Barcola doubled the advantage just two minutes later, finishing off a move involving teenage forward Lewis Koumas.

The Frenchman struck again in the 37th minute, converting a pass from Florian Wirtz to put Liverpool firmly in control at half-time.

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool recorded 19 attempts in the opening half, setting a record for an away team in the first half of a Champions League match since records began in the 2003-04 season.

Liverpool continued their attacking display after the restart, with Frimpong making it 4-0 in the 51st minute after heading in another Tsimikas delivery.

LASK pulled one back in the 63rd minute through Robert Ljubičić, who finished past the Liverpool goalkeeper to give the hosts a brief moment of encouragement.

However, Barcola restored Liverpool’s four-goal cushion three minutes later, completing his hat-trick from close range after Frimpong delivered the ball across the penalty area.

The treble marked a significant breakthrough for the forward, who had endured six appearances without a goal or assist following his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Koumas added Liverpool’s sixth goal in the 72nd minute, converting another Frimpong delivery after having two earlier efforts ruled out for offside.

Despite Liverpool’s attacking superiority, the visitors were unable to keep a clean sheet.

Florian Flecker scored in the 74th and 77th minutes, completing a quick-fire brace that reduced the deficit to 6-3.

The goals exposed defensive weaknesses in Liverpool’s performance, even as their attacking display provided a convincing response to Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City.

The victory maintained Liverpool’s winning start in the Champions League following their opening 2-1 success against Atlético Madrid.

LASK, meanwhile, remained without a point after suffering another defeat following their opening loss to AEK Athens.

At Villa Park, Aston Villa delivered an equally memorable performance, sweeping aside Fenerbahçe 6-0 to register their second consecutive Champions League victory.

Johan Manzambi opened the scoring in the 12th minute, giving Emery’s side an early advantage in their first home Champions League fixture of the campaign.

Jackson then took centre stage, scoring twice in the 31st and 39th minutes to give Villa a commanding 3-0 lead at the interval.

The hosts maintained their dominance after the break, with Barkley converting a penalty in the 68th minute after Manzambi was fouled inside the box.

Barkley struck again four minutes later, extending Villa’s advantage to five goals before substitute Tammy Abraham completed the rout in the 90th minute.

The result followed Villa’s 3-2 away victory over Club Brugge in their opening league-phase fixture, further strengthening their start to the competition.

Villa had also beaten Fenerbahçe 1-0 in Istanbul during last season’s Europa League league phase, with Jadon Sancho scoring the decisive goal.

Wednesday’s emphatic result extended Villa’s recent success against the Turkish side and underlined their attacking strength in European competition.

Liverpool and Aston Villa both secured impressive victories, but their performances offered different talking points.

Liverpool’s six-goal haul was spearheaded by Barcola’s breakthrough hat-trick, although conceding three times after the interval highlighted areas requiring attention.

Villa, by contrast, combined their attacking efficiency with defensive discipline to record a clean sheet against Fenerbahçe.

The results gave both English sides further momentum in the Champions League, with Liverpool looking to build on their attacking display and Villa continuing their strong run under Emery.
