Anambra Police arrest Chiemerie Udeh with a pistol and live ammunition on Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road, suspected of robbery and cultism

The Anambra Police arrest Chiemerie Udeh, a 22-year-old suspected armed robber and cultist, along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road in Dunukofia Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The arrest followed a routine patrol by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu Ukwu, who intercepted a black Lexus car with registration number RSH 613 AZ driven by the suspect.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

“Operatives of the Police Command in Anambra attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu Ukwu on the evening of Oct. 16, while on patrol along Ukpomili–Ifitedunu Road, Dunukofia LGA, intercepted a black-coloured Lexus car driven by one Chiemerie Udeh, aged 22,” Ikenga said.

He explained that the suspect was immediately arrested, and the firearm, ammunition, and vehicle were taken into custody as exhibits for further investigation.

Preliminary findings suggested that the car might have been stolen and was possibly being used for a planned rival cult attack.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism, and swift action, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against cultism and violent crime across Anambra State.
