Police kill bandit, recover firearm in Niger

A suspected bandit has been killed in an encounter between him and a joint police, vigilante team at Audu fari village in the Borgu Local Goverment Area of Niger State.

The suspect, Abubakar Buda, who hailed from Sangeku village in Zamfara State was initially arrested by the team following a tip-off.

It was learnt that when he was searched, one Barreta pistol with 14 rounds of live ammunitions was found on him and in an attempt to escape into the forest, he was gunned down.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday confirmed the incident, saying the suspect was killed “while trying to escape into forest.”
