Ataoja of Osogbo urges Tinubu to release Osun’s withheld LG funds, warning that 2027 support hinges on fairness and ending hardship in the state

Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, has declared that Osun State can deliver over one million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election—if the Federal Government immediately releases the state’s withheld local government allocations.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Osun Osogbo Festival 2025, the monarch condemned the non-release of funds for all 30 LGAs for more than five months, calling it a source of severe hardship for citizens.

“This is not about politics; this is about people,” he said, stressing that Osun must not be singled out for punishment.

Oba Olanipekun reminded Tinubu that he once faced similar injustice as Lagos governor and urged him to prevent such actions under his watch. He noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s programmes are being stifled by the financial blockade.

The monarch called on the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers to lead a delegation to Abuja, pledging that fairness would be repaid with overwhelming electoral support in 2027.
