Nigeria Customs revenue at KLT hits ₦89.2bn in six months, a 63% rise over 2024, driven by reforms, compliance, and strong enforcement

Nigeria Customs revenue from the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) command surged to ₦89.2bn between January and June 2025, representing a 63% increase over the ₦54.8bn recorded in the same period of 2024.

Customs Area Controller of KLT, Eghosa Edelduok, announced the figures in a statement on Saturday, attributing the growth to enhanced operational efficiency, reforms, and compliance-driven strategies.

“The difference of ₦34.4bn reflects a 63 per cent growth, demonstrating the command’s improved efficiency and compliance levels,” Edelduok said, noting that targeted enforcement and stakeholder engagement had produced visible results.

On anti-smuggling operations, the command intercepted two 40-foot containers of expired pharmaceutical products valued at ₦130m.

The items, which violated the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import laws, were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

Edelduok stressed the command’s zero tolerance for infractions, adding that transparency, accountability, and professionalism would continue to guide its enforcement efforts.

She also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to stakeholder cooperation and inter-agency collaboration, describing them as essential to advancing national economic goals.

“Our organisation remains dedicated to discharging its statutory responsibilities diligently, in alignment with broader objectives of national security, economic growth, and service excellence,” she said.
