Napoli signs Rasmus Hojlund in what could be a significant late-summer transfer coup, as the Italian club moves closer to finalizing an agreement with Manchester United for the 21-year-old striker.

According to Sky Sports News and Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations are in an advanced stage, with growing optimism that the deal will be completed this week.

Crucially, Hojlund has given the green light for the move, heavily influenced by Napoli’s offer of UEFA Champions League football—a powerful incentive after United failed to qualify.

Napoli’s proposal includes an obligation to buy, potentially worth £40 million, but with performance-based conditions tied to appearances, goals scored, and Napoli’s own Champions League qualification.

Manchester United is keen to ensure those conditions are realistic before giving the final go-ahead.

“The structure of the deal is what’s being discussed now,” reported Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth.

“United wants assurance that the obligations to buy will be triggered under achievable terms.”

Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, has shown flashes of brilliance but struggled for consistent starts in a crowded attacking setup.

With Napoli’s system and style likely better suited to his strengths, the move could reignite his form and value on the European stage.
