Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences VC dismisses recruitment rumors, assures adverts before September ends

The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences has dismissed reports that it has begun staff recruitment.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gbenga Aribisala clarified that the new institution in Iyin Ekiti has not accessed funds or secured full approvals, stressing that both academic and non-academic recruitment cannot commence until the National Universities Commission approves its courses of study.

Speaking at a reception in Ikoyi Ekiti, Ikole Local Government, Aribisala urged patience, noting that adverts for job applications would be rolled out before the end of September.

He assured that only experienced staff would be recruited initially, in line with the university’s vision of becoming one of the best in the world.

“This is a federal university, and we will follow the principles of federal character. Our goal is to embrace excellence and provide quality education for the next generation,” he said.

The VC emphasized that recruitment would be a yearly exercise as the university stabilises, adding that opportunities would expand gradually.

He also appealed to private organisations and philanthropists to invest in the development of the institution, describing it as a project positioned to benefit everyone.

Aribisala commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa for their support and thanked the 26 host communities for celebrating his appointment.

Traditional rulers and local government leaders also praised the VC’s leadership and urged unity among the communities.

The Obaloke of Igbona Ekiti, Oba Johnson Oladele, lauded Aribisala as a pride of the local government, while Ikole Local Government Chairman, Bayo Omojola, expressed confidence in his ability to deliver meaningful development.
