President Bola Tinubu MSME Grant: FG offers N250k each to top MSMEs at Katsina Clinic, strengthening enterprise support and economic inclusion

President Bola Tinubu MSME Grant has offered a major boost to small business owners as the Federal Government approved an unconditional sum of N250,000 for each outstanding MSME participating in the Expanded National MSME Clinic in Katsina State.

The announcement was made by Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday during the formal launch of the ninth edition of the MSME Clinic, an initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs and deepening grassroots economic activity.

According to Shettima, the Expanded MSME Clinic is designed to bring essential services directly to local business operators.

It provides access to key regulatory agencies like the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), NAFDAC, SMEDAN, and financial institutions such as the Bank of Industry, enabling traders to resolve business bottlenecks in real time.

“MSMEs remain the backbone of our national vision. We came to office committed to easing the nation’s economic burden, and our support for businesses remains a top priority,” Shettima remarked.

He added that the N250,000 grant was non-repayable, highlighting the President’s commitment to eliminating obstacles faced by small businesses.

The move, he said, forms part of a broader economic strategy to stimulate innovation, employment, and access to finance.

The administration has also rolled out several complementary support packages:

• A ₦75 billion MSME Intervention Fund, offering loans of up to ₦5 million at just 9% annual interest to 75,000 enterprises.
•  A ₦50 billion Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, targeting one million nano businesses with ₦50,000 grants each across Nigeria’s 774 local councils.
• A ₦75 billion Manufacturers Fund, supporting production firms with loans of up to ₦1 billion to mitigate high operating costs.

Through the RAPID programme, more than ₦112 million has been disbursed to 23 MSMEs in rural Katsina, helping them expand and hire locally.

Additionally, Shettima announced the launch of the ₦5 billion Katsina State MSME Growth Fund, a federal-state matching scheme, with ₦576 million already disbursed to 237 local businesses.

He commended Governor Dikko Radda for establishing the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), a key pillar in transforming local enterprises into nationally competitive ventures.

“No country thrives without a robust MSME sector. With over 1.7 million MSMEs, Katsina is positioning itself as a hub for agriculture, crafts, services, and digital enterprise,” Shettima said.

He also praised the growing participation of women and youth in the MSME space, underlining that inclusive growth remains central to the administration’s vision.

The Federal Government’s multi-tiered support for MSMEs reflects a strategic shift—from short-term handouts to long-term empowerment, enabling Nigerian businesses to thrive amid economic headwinds.
