The 83-year-old pastor made the revelation during a sermon attended by members of his congregation.

Pastor Adeboye explained that his decision was motivated by personal safety concerns and not intended as gender discrimination.

He recalled that while he valued the service of his previous female secretary, he was mindful of the risks of being alone with women at night.

“From the moment I got to a stage where at night I still have to work, I cease to have a female secretary. Some people think it is gender discrimination. I know myself. I know who I was before Jesus saved my soul. I know the possibility of dangers, being left alone,” Pastor Adeboye said.

He praised his former female secretary for her dedication, calling her “a wonderful child of God” and credited her for her professionalism and faithfulness.

The RCCG leader illustrated the scenario of being alone with a female secretary at 2 or 3 a.m., explaining why he prefers male secretaries during late hours.

“Can we imagine, after a long day’s work, everybody finally gone, and my secretary comes and says, ‘At 2 a.m., we are through now, sir. Is there any way I can help you?’ You know, a cup of tea to relax. At 2 a.m…,” he recounted.
