Ibadan Correctional Centre drug arrest sees visitor caught concealing suspected Colorado and hemp inside food; handed over to NDLEA for investigation

A male visitor was arrested at the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) medium-security facility in Agodi, Ibadan, for attempting to smuggle suspected hard drugs into the custodial centre.

The Oyo State Command’s Public Relations Officer, O.O. Anjorin, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended during routine security checks on visitors and their belongings at the facility entrance on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Anjorin stated that the visitor, who claimed he was attending to an inmate, had concealed substances suspected to be Colorado and hemp inside a portion of cooked rice.

Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and legal action.

The handover was overseen by the Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Assistant Controller of Corrections Sunday Adekunmbi.

The Controller of Corrections for Oyo State, Osogun C. Olusegun, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, emphasising the NCS’s commitment to maintaining the security, safety, and integrity of all custodial centres in the state.
