Former Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso is reportedly waiting to replace Arne Slot as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, according to German publication BILD.

The Reds are struggling to defend their Premier League title, which Slot secured by 10 points in his first season.

Currently fifth in the standings, Liverpool sits 21 points behind league leaders Arsenal, leaving Slot’s position uncertain beyond the summer.

Club officials are reportedly reluctant to make an immediate managerial change, as Liverpool remain active on two fronts, facing Manchester City in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
