Police arraign fake jobs suspects in Edo over alleged recruitment scam targeting job seekers with false NEOLIFE offers

The Zone 5 Command of the Nigerian Police Force in Benin, Edo State, on Monday arraigned three suspects before a magistrate court over an alleged fraudulent recruitment scheme involving fake job offers linked to a wellness company, NEOLIFE.

The suspects, whose identities were disclosed by police prosecutors during proceedings, were accused of deceiving unsuspecting job seekers with promises of employment, collecting fees under false pretences, and misrepresenting their affiliation with the international health and wellness brand.

Police authorities said the case, now formally before the court, followed weeks of investigation into complaints from victims who reported financial losses and emotional distress after engaging with the syndicate.

The Zone 5 Public Relations Officer stated that the operation to dismantle the network was both swift and decisive, describing the arrests as part of a broader crackdown on employment-related fraud targeting young Nigerians.

NEOLIFE, a United States-based company, confirmed that it had no involvement in the recruitment exercise and had taken internal disciplinary measures by suspending the licence of an independent distributor allegedly connected to the scheme.

The company reiterated its commitment to protecting its brand integrity and cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies.

The development has drawn attention to the rising trend of job scams amid high youth unemployment, with experts warning that fraudsters increasingly exploit trusted brand names to gain credibility.

While the court adjourned the matter for further hearing, police officials urged members of the public to verify employment offers through official company channels before making any financial commitments.
