Deji Adeyanju Plateau killings leadership criticism as activist lawyer condemns recurring violence and urges decisive government action

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has condemned the recurring killings in Plateau State and other parts of the country, describing the situation as a clear reflection of weak leadership and governance failures.

In a statement, Deji Adeyanju expressed concern over repeated attacks on citizens, describing them as alarming and indicative of a growing inability by authorities to effectively protect lives and property.

He argued that the persistence of such incidents raises serious questions about the government’s capacity to maintain security.

The activist lawyer criticised the response of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress-led administration, warning that the ongoing violence is fostering a perception, both locally and internationally, that Nigeria lacks effective leadership.

According to Adeyanju, the scale and frequency of insecurity are not only affecting public confidence but also damaging Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage.

He stressed that failure to address the crisis decisively could further undermine trust in governance and slow national development.

In his remarks, he described the continued attacks as heartbreaking and deeply troubling, noting that it has become increasingly difficult to understand how citizens can be targeted repeatedly without a clear and effective resolution.

He further stated that the current situation sends a negative message to Nigerians and the international community, suggesting that governance structures are not responding adequately to urgent security challenges.
