Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been discharged from hospital and has begun rehabilitation following successful surgery on a fractured right forearm sustained during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Victor Osimhen recovery update brings cautious optimism for Galatasaray fans, with reports suggesting the forward could return earlier than initially expected, depending on the progress of his rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old underwent a three-hour procedure at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul, led by club doctor Op. Dr. Yener İnce, after scans confirmed the extent of the injury suffered in an aerial collision with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté.

Despite the severity of the fracture, Osimhen showed resilience by continuing to play until half-time before being substituted, underlining his reputation for toughness and commitment.

Following surgery, the striker initially requested an extended hospital stay to ensure close medical supervision and optimal recovery conditions.

Reports indicate that he even insisted on remaining under observation longer than expected to support a more controlled rehabilitation process.

Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli reported that Osimhen told club officials: “I don’t want to be discharged; I want my care to continue here so I can return sooner.”

The decision has been positively received within Galatasaray, with officials viewing it as a reflection of the striker’s professionalism and determination.

Initial forecasts placed his recovery timeline at six to eight weeks, but revised assessments now suggest a possible return within four to six weeks.

There is growing hope that he could be fit for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, although the club is expected to remain cautious.

Medical staff are likely to avoid any risk of relapse, particularly given Galatasaray’s ongoing title challenge in the Turkish Super Lig, where they currently hold a narrow lead over their closest rivals.

Before the injury, Osimhen had been in exceptional form, registering 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, reinforcing his status as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.
