John Mikel Obi warns Chelsea could lose key players including Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo amid transfer interest

Former Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has warned that Chelsea could face a major squad shake-up in the summer transfer window.

Mikel Obi said several key players, including Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernández, Marc Cucurella and Moisés Caicedo, could attract serious interest from top European clubs.

Speaking on his podcast, the former Chelsea midfielder questioned the club’s long-term project and transfer direction.

“Right now, we have players like Cole Palmer, players like Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo… when they start getting phone calls from the likes of Real Madrid,” Mikel Obi said.

He added that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is known for targeting top talents across Europe.

“Florentino Perez is a master in stealing players from clubs,” he said.

Mikel Obi also questioned Chelsea’s ambition and whether the current strategy is focused on winning major trophies.

“That’s why I question it and that’s why I say: what is the objective? The objective of this club has to be winning, winning trophies,” he added.

His comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of Chelsea’s squad rebuild under their current project, with mixed results in domestic and European competitions.
