Olubadan healthcare partnership with UCLA and NGOs aims to improve medical services and public health delivery in Ibadanland

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, on Monday announced a positive move to strengthen healthcare delivery through a strategic partnership with University of California, Los Angeles, Sadiat Toyin Lawal Foundation and Tabernacle Worship and Prayer Ministry.

Oba Ladoja made the declaration while receiving representatives of the organisations, led by Toyin Lawal, at his palace in Oke-Aremo in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The Olubadan healthcare partnership, he said, reflects his commitment to improving the wellbeing of residents across the ancient city.

“The health of the people of Ibadanland is of paramount importance to me,” the monarch stated, pledging to prioritise policies and initiatives that promote healthy living.

To ensure effective collaboration, Oba Ladoja disclosed that he had facilitated a meeting between the visiting delegation and the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, led by its Executive Secretary, Muideen Olatunji. He said the engagement was necessary to align efforts and maximise impact.

Earlier, Toyin Lawal said the outreach aimed to build sustainable community health partnerships spanning primary healthcare centres, tertiary institutions and local government systems.

She added that the team plans to donate medical equipment and critical resources to strengthen service delivery.

Lawal also confirmed that a proposal had been submitted to the palace, outlining initiatives in health advocacy, education and public sensitisation. The proposal, she noted, is designed to support long-term improvements in access to quality healthcare.

A notable moment during the meeting was the convergence of key traditional leaders, underscoring the significance of the initiative. Among those present were the Balogun of Ibadanland, Tajudeen Ajibola; the Otun Balogun, Kolawole Adewole; the Osi Olubadan, Abiodun Kola-Daisi; the Ashipa Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade; the Ekerin Olubadan, Adebayo Akande; and the Ekerin Balogun, Mobolaji Adewoyin.
