Olubadan of Ibadanland distributes food and cash to over 5,000 Muslims and Christians in Ramadan and Lenten goodwill gesture

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, distributed food packages to over 5,000 Muslims and Christians on Saturday as part of Ramadan and Lenten goodwill gifts.

Each beneficiary received cash alongside staples including rice, beans, semovita, garri, maize, and noodles.

Oba Ladoja, represented by Olori Rashidat Ladoja, explained that the gesture is aimed at giving back to society and has been a tradition for the past 20 years.

“This is the first time we are doing this since Oba Ladoja ascended the throne as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The beneficiaries are more than 5,000 this year, compared to about 5,000 last year. We thank God that everything went smoothly, without casualties or conflicts,” she said.

Olori Ladoja highlighted the Olubadan’s long-standing commitment to the welfare of his people, noting his service as a Senator, former governor, and now traditional ruler.

“During Ramadan and Lent, both the Quran and the Bible encourage giving. Oba Ladoja is prioritising the welfare of his people, and we believe many Nigerians are giving as well,” she added.

The distribution reflects a broader effort to promote social cohesion and community support during religious observances, reinforcing the Olubadan’s reputation for philanthropy and civic engagement in Ibadanland.
