Tinubu attends Olubadan coronation in Ibadan as the city celebrates the ascension of Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The President departed Abuja on Friday morning, flying from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to Oyo State, where he joined other national dignitaries at the historic Mapo Hall for the installation ceremony.

The coronation of the new Olubadan is a momentous cultural event, marking the official elevation of High Chief Rashidi Ladoja to the revered throne.

Ladoja, an 81-year-old former governor and senator, rose through the respected traditional chieftaincy system to emerge as the Olubadan, following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin in July.

The presence of President Tinubu and other prominent figures at the coronation underscores the national and historical significance of the occasion.

Ibadan, one of West Africa’s largest cities, holds the Olubadan throne in high cultural and political regard, with deep-rooted importance among the Yoruba people.

The city is abuzz with excitement as it welcomes the new monarch. Ladoja’s coronation not only represents the continuity of Ibadan’s revered institution but also honours his decades of public service and contributions to Yoruba heritage.
