Oba Tejuoso EFCC suspect clarification rejects claims linking the Ogun monarch to wanted socialite Halimat Tejuosho

The traditional ruler of Oke-Ona Egba in Ogun State, Adedapo Tejuoso, has denied claims linking him to Halimat Tejuosho, the socialite and politician recently declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged fraud involving N603.4 million.

The clarification was issued on Thursday in a statement by the monarch’s spokesperson, Sesan Bankole.

According to the statement, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso said the wanted suspect was neither his wife nor a member of his family.

The monarch stressed that Halimat Tejuosho was not related to him by blood, birth, marriage or religion, distancing the royal household from growing public speculation following the EFCC declaration.

The anti-graft agency had earlier declared Halimat Tejuosho wanted over allegations bordering on obtaining money by false pretence.

Oba Tejuoso also expressed concern over what he described as misleading information circulating online, alleging that some search engines, including Google, had incorrectly associated him with the suspect.

The statement said there was an urgent need to correct the misinformation to avoid further confusion among members of the public.

“The attention of HRM, Alaiyeluwa Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso and the palace of the Osile Oke-Ona Egba has been drawn to recent media reports concerning one Dr (Mrs) Halimat Adenike Tejuosho,” the statement read.

“Let it be made abundantly clear that the embattled politician is neither an Olori nor blood relation of Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso. Her name is spelt Tejuosho with an H, while Oba Dr Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso’s family name has no H.”

The palace further clarified that another monarch, Adetokunbo Tehuosho, who holds the title of Olu of Kemta in the outskirts of Abeokuta, should also not be confused with the Osile Oke-Ona Egba.

According to the statement, Adetokunbo Tehuosho is not related to Oba Adedapo Tejuoso.
