Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha has won two Premier League youth awards after a breakout season featuring record-breaking milestones

Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha has been honoured with two major awards at the Premier League Youth Development Conference following a standout breakout season.

The 17-year-old was named Homegrown Debutant of the Season on a joint basis alongside Arsenal’s Max Dowman, in recognition of his rapid rise into senior football.

Ngumoha also received a Scholar of the Year award, marking a significant milestone in his development since joining Liverpool from Chelsea in September 2024.

The accolades confirm a remarkable breakthrough campaign that has seen the young forward progress from academy football to becoming a reliable option in Liverpool’s first-team setup within a short period.

His recognition at Wembley highlights both his individual progress and the effectiveness of Liverpool’s youth development system in producing elite-level talent for the Premier League.

Ngumoha enjoyed a record-breaking 2025-26 season, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history at 16 years and 361 days after scoring a dramatic late winner against Newcastle United.

He further etched his name into the club’s history books by becoming Liverpool’s youngest player to feature in European competition during a Champions League appearance against Atlético Madrid.

The teenager continued his rise in April 2026 when he scored his first Premier League goal at Anfield against Fulham, further cementing his reputation as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

To date, Ngumoha has made 17 Premier League appearances, scoring twice in a breakthrough season that has drawn widespread attention across English football.
