slams Aiyedatiwa over insecurity, poor infrastructure and alleged lack of clear development agenda in Ondo State

The Ondo Redemption Front on Monday criticised the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, accusing the state government of poor governance, worsening insecurity, infrastructural decay and lack of a clear development agenda in Ondo State.

Speaking during a press briefing, the group’s chairman, Ayodeji Ologun, and co-chairman, Mogbojuri Kayode, said the intervention became necessary due to what they described as persistent neglect of critical sectors and declining living conditions across the state.

The group insisted that its position was not politically motivated but driven by a commitment to accountability, transparency and public interest.

According to the ORF, repeated calls by residents for purposeful leadership had not translated into meaningful action from the Aiyedatiwa administration, particularly in the areas of security, healthcare, education, infrastructure and welfare.

The group alleged that governance in the state had become stagnant, claiming there were no major projects reflecting bold developmental planning or strategic direction.

ORF slams Aiyedatiwa also over what it described as excessive focus on political calculations and public relations rather than effective governance.

The group said the administration had been marked by “motion without movement and activities without impact,” arguing that many government actions lacked visible results.

On insecurity, the pressure group raised concerns over increasing cases of kidnapping, violent attacks and criminal activities in several communities, especially rural areas.

It warned that many farmers were no longer able to safely access their farmlands, a situation it said could deepen food shortages and economic hardship across the state.

“The silence and slow response of the government to these growing threats further reinforce the perception of a leadership disconnected from the realities confronting the people,” the statement read.

The ORF also described the healthcare sector as being in a troubling state, citing poor infrastructure, shortage of medical personnel and inadequate equipment in public hospitals.

The education sector, according to the group, continued to suffer neglect, with students protesting poor learning conditions while institutions battled welfare concerns and administrative instability.

The group further criticised the pace of infrastructural development, noting that roads and public facilities across several parts of Ondo State had continued to deteriorate.

It alleged that governance under the current administration appeared reactive rather than visionary, claiming that many policies were driven more by political optics than long-term development goals.

Among its demands, the ORF called on the state government to present a comprehensive and measurable development agenda covering all sectors.

The group also demanded urgent action to tackle insecurity, improved healthcare services, visible infrastructure projects across the three senatorial districts, better welfare for education workers and greater transparency in public spending.

It urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to place governance above politics and provide the decisive leadership expected by residents.

“The people of Ondo State deserve leadership that inspires confidence, protects lives, develops infrastructure, strengthens institutions and prioritises the welfare of the people above political survival,” the group added.
