Harry Kane says he is among favourites for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, backing himself and Michael Olise ahead of PSG stars and World Cup contenders

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has boldly named himself among the leading contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award, while also tipping club and international teammates to challenge for football’s most prestigious individual prize.

Kane included Bayern Munich teammate Michael Olise among his top picks, suggesting that strong performances at club and international level could shape the outcome of the award.

The England captain also pointed to reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain as key competitors in the race, noting that players involved in Champions League success remain strong contenders.

Kane said England’s prospects at the 2026 World Cup in North America could also influence the outcome, arguing that an English player could “surely” win the Ballon d’Or if the Three Lions go all the way.

“I’m definitely among the favourites for the Ballon d’Or,” Kane said.

“If England win the World Cup, surely you can see an English player winning it.”

He added that players featuring in major European finals, alongside himself and Olise, would be central to the award conversation.

Kane also expressed excitement over the fact that the Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in London, describing it as a possible positive sign and a special moment should he win it in his home city.
