Chibuike Nwaiwu has expressed his desire to remain at Trabzonspor despite reported interest from Premier League clubs Fulham and West Ham

Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has indicated his intention to remain at Trabzonspor despite growing transfer interest from European clubs, including reported attention from Fulham and West Ham United, following an impressive breakout season in Turkey.

The 22-year-old centre-back made his position clear in an interview with a Turkish television channel, stating that he remains committed to his current contract and plans to continue his development with the Turkish Super Lig side.

“I have an ongoing contract with Trabzonspor, so I need to go back and continue my path with my club,” Nwaiwu said, according to quotes reported by Footy-Africa.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor in January from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC and quickly established himself as a key defensive presence during the second half of the season.

He featured in 16 league matches, contributing three goals and one assist, a return that has attracted attention from clubs in England monitoring his progress ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite the speculation, the young defender emphasised stability and continued development as his immediate priority, suggesting he is not in a rush to leave the Turkish side.

His performances have made him one of the emerging Nigerian names in European football, with scouts reportedly keeping close tabs on his progress as the transfer window progresses.
