Luka Modric says he wants to return to Real Madrid after leaving the club, admitting it would be a dream to work with the Spanish giants again

Luka Modric has revealed that he would love to return to Real Madrid in the future, describing the possibility of working with the Spanish giants again as a dream.

The Croatia midfielder left Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer of 2024 after 13 years at the club and has continued his career in Italy with AC Milan.

Modric, who has since retired from international football, is now considering his options for the next stage of his career.

Despite his departure from Madrid, the veteran midfielder admitted that the club remains close to his heart and that he would welcome an opportunity to return in a different capacity.

“I miss Real Madrid, it’s a club I love but I feel good in Milan. Also here I feel very happy,” Modric told COPE.

The 41-year-old said he has been warmly received at AC Milan and remains committed to contributing as much as possible during his time at the Italian club.

“They’ve welcomed me very well and I’m trying to give my all,” he said.

Modric spent 13 memorable years at Real Madrid, becoming one of the most decorated and influential midfielders in the club’s modern history.

The Croatian said his long association with the Spanish club means he still regards it as home.

“Real Madrid is my home. I spent 13 years there,” he added.

However, Modric acknowledged that any potential return would depend on the role available and whether the club would be interested in bringing him back.

“I’d be happy to help, but I have to prepare myself and see what role I could have and whether the club wants it,” he said.

Modric ultimately described a return to the Santiago Bernabéu as a dream.

“It would be a dream,” the former Real Madrid star said.

For now, Modric remains focused on his career at AC Milan, but his comments have opened the door to a possible reunion with the club where he spent more than a decade building an extraordinary legacy.
