AFRIMA 2025 entries reach record-breaking 10,717, reflecting African music’s unstoppable growth and global impact

AFRIMA 2025 entries have reached an unprecedented milestone, with the All Africa Music Awards receiving 10,717 submissions the highest in its history.

This marks a sharp rise from last year’s 9,076 entries, cementing AFRIMA’s reputation as Africa’s premier platform for celebrating and promoting the continent’s music on a global scale.

The entry period, which ran from May 27 to August 8, drew songs, albums, and music videos from across Africa and the diaspora.

Submissions came not just from artists and producers, but also from choreographers, DJs, video directors, and even unrecorded talents — a testament to the diversity and vibrancy of Africa’s creative pool.

West Africa led with 5,215 entries (48.68%), followed by Southern Africa’s 2,080 (19.42%) and Eastern Africa’s 804 (7.50%).

Northern Africa contributed 267 (2.49%), Central Africa 291 (2.72%), while the African diaspora sent in 75 entries (0.70%).

Adjudication by AFRIMA’s 13-member International Jury began on August 8 in Lagos, Nigeria, and will continue until August 17.

Each submission is evaluated for quality, originality, impact, and cultural relevance before nominees are announced on August 24.

Voting opens September 5 for both the AFRIMA Academy and fans worldwide, closing just 24 hours before the Awards Night on November 30.

Speaking on the achievement, Southern Africa jury representative Adam Tiran said: “The record number of entries for AFRIMA 2025 is more than just a statistic; it’s proof that African music is alive, creative, and unstoppable.

Artists trust AFRIMA as the stage where their work can be celebrated on a global scale.”

The 2025 edition will be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria, from November 25 to 30, in partnership with the African Union, the Nigerian government, and Lagos State.

The week-long celebration will feature the Africa Music Business Summit, the AFRIMA Music Village Concert, the Nominees Party, and the grand Awards Night, broadcast live to over 84 countries.
