Alex Iwobi’s father, Chuka Iwobi, debunks reports that the midfielder was robbed in London, confirming he was already in Turkey for Super Eagles friendlies

The father of Alex Iwobi has dismissed reports that his son was robbed at his London home.

Chuka Iwobi told journalist Colin Udoh that the Fulham star had already left for Turkey when the false story circulated.

Reports claimed armed intruders stole valuables worth £500,000, including jewellery, luxury watches, a MacBook, two iPhones, and cash.

“Alex is fine and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for the friendlies,” Chuka said.

Iwobi was confirmed among 15 players at the Super Eagles’ camp in Antalya ahead of friendlies against Iran and Jordan.

Other arrivals included Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Emmanuel Fernandez, Semi Ajayi, and Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Chuka Iwobi criticised the speed at which the false report spread online, saying he spent hours reassuring concerned well-wishers.

Nigeria will face Iran on Friday and Jordan on Tuesday, March 31, in Antalya, after security concerns prompted the change from the originally planned Amman venue.
