Ejimakor, who was arrested earlier in the week alongside 12 others, including Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of the IPOB leader, was rushed to Kuje Medical Centre, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Confirming the incident  on Saturday, one of Kanu’s lawyers, Maxwell Opara, said Ejimakor’s collapse occurred before his visit to the prison.

“Yes, I went to see him and he was admitted at Kuje Medical Centre where they are treating him, and I left a few hours ago,” Opara said. “The thing happened before I came.

We arrived around 12, and I started hearing the news. As one of his lawyers and colleagues, I insisted on seeing him, and they took me to see him.”

Opara added that he also met other detainees, including Omoyele Sowore, before being taken to Ejimakor’s ward.

The development comes barely 24 hours after a Kuje Magistrate Court presided over by Abubakar Umar Sai’id reportedly refused to sign the bail bond for Ejimakor’s release.

Ejimakor and his co-defendants were arrested by the Nigeria Police Force on Monday during a “Free Nnamdi Kanu” protest in Abuja. They were subsequently arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Kuje, where their bail applications remain pending.

As of Saturday evening, sources within the prison confirmed that Ejimakor was still under medical supervision, though his condition was said to be stabilising.
