Security personnel attached to Amaechi’s convoy reportedly thwarted the attack, despite sporadic gunfire, ensuring the former minister’s safe entry into the community.

The incident followed the earlier destruction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Secretariat in Ubima, which was set ablaze by armed men hours before Amaechi’s scheduled visit.

Videos circulating online showed gunmen blocking a major road and firing sporadically as the convoy approached.
