Anambra State government launches plan to build 30 new primary schools, enhancing education access and delivering development to communities

Anambra State government has unveiled an ambitious plan to build 30 additional primary schools across the state, targeting communities that currently lack public education facilities.

The announcement follows Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s resounding re-election on November 8, 2025, where he secured victories in all 21 local government areas of Anambra State.

The state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, revealed that the decision was made during the 22nd Anambra State Executive Council meeting at the Light House in Awka on Wednesday.

Mefor emphasised that the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to delivering tangible development and value to citizens.

“The November 8 governorship election served as a hypothesis test,” Mefor said. “The Council observed that Governor Soludo’s 73 per cent win across all local government areas confirms that electoral success is rooted in providing development and meaningful impact to the people.”

The Council also approved the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, paving the way for the 2026 Annual Budget to be presented to the State House of Assembly.

This ensures that the 2026 Appropriations Bill is assented to by December 31, 2026, maintaining continuity in strategic governance.

The new schools initiative will complement the Soludo administration’s ongoing free education policy, ensuring that every community benefits from accessible public education.

Mefor highlighted that the government prioritises projects based on need and strategic significance rather than election timelines.

In addition to the schools, contracts worth ₦43.7 billion have been awarded for road, power, and infrastructural projects to enhance living standards across Anambra State
