Youth on Ground says it is preparing a November mega rally as part of its grassroots mobilisation campaign for the President

APC youths under the Youth on Ground Progressive and Mentorship Initiative have announced plans to mobilise 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, while preparing a major youth rally for November 2026.

The group made the declaration in Abuja on Friday, presenting itself as a structured grassroots movement supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his bid for a second term.

The Founder and National Coordinator of YOG, Obioma Nwuba, said the initiative was built around the belief that young Nigerians represent the country’s largest demographic bloc and could play a decisive role in the next presidential election.

The group said arrangements for the proposed November mega rally were already at an advanced stage, with the event expected to bring together young supporters from wards, local government areas and states across the country.

YOG said the rally would culminate in a formal youth declaration in support of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.

“We stand in support of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and we stand equally in support of his 2027 second-term aspiration, because continuity of purposeful leadership is what this moment demands,” the group said.

The organisation is seeking recognition from the presidency and members of the APC Progressive Governors Forum as a grassroots delivery partner for the administration’s policies.

YOG argued that the government’s programmes needed to be translated into tangible improvements at community level, rather than remaining concentrated around federal institutions.

“Hope cannot be renewed from Abuja alone. It must be delivered in Abuja, Awka, and Owo. It must be felt in the farms in Jalingo and the workshops in Benin,” the group said.

The appeal comes as political parties and support organisations begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 election, with youth mobilisation expected to remain a significant component of the campaigns.

YOG said its proposed network would extend beyond major cities to wards and local government areas, giving the movement what it described as an established grassroots structure.

“Ten million organised youths are 10 million votes, 10 million voices and 10 million defenders of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the group declared.

The organisation also appealed to APC governors to work with its members on initiatives relating to food security, employment and peacebuilding.

“Governors, we are not asking for hand-outs. We are offering you foot soldiers for food security, peace and jobs in your states,” YOG said.

The group’s proposed mobilisation will come against a competitive political backdrop, with opposition parties also exploring alliances and broader grassroots strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

While YOG has set an ambitious 10-million-vote target, the eventual electoral impact will depend on its ability to convert its stated organisational reach into sustained voter engagement and actual turnout on election day.

For now, the planned November gathering represents an early effort to give the APC’s youth campaign a visible national platform as preparations for the 2027 contest gather momentum.

YOG called on young Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to participate in its planned mobilisation, saying the initiative would provide a platform for supporters to contribute to Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
